To suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED) means to lose part of what makes you a man. This embarrassing disorder hits mostly men in their fifties and above. However, on rare occasions, it can also hit men who are only in their twenties. Not having the capacity to achieve an erection so as to please your sexual partner can be downright disconcerting as this not only lowers your self-esteem, but this can also be the cause of a breakup in a serious (and even not-so-serious) relationship. Not only is your pride and ego lost when you are branded impotent, but it’s also hard when you know you are about to score with a pretty lady you’ve met, but instead back down due to your secret.
There are basically three type of erectile dysfunction – the complete inability to achieve an erection, the inability to sustain an erection long enough for sexual intercourse, and the inability to have a hard-enough erection useful for initial penetration. Regardless of what type of erectile dysfunction you have, the truth is, there are two main factors that cause ED and each factor has its own set of causes.
Psychological Factor – although it is hard to admit, but psychological factor can be a strong cause for ED. The only difference it has with the physical factor is mainly that it is curable. Once the reason why the ED occurs is no longer in thought or in mental state, then normal erection ability is completely gained back. The truth is there are plenty of reasons why some males suffer from ED caused by psychological factor.
- The fear that they are not good enough to please their sexual partner.
- The fear that they might get the girl pregnant because they are not into fathering the child.
- Trauma from past sexual experiences.
- Fatigue, stress, anxiety, and depression are also causes of ED included in the psychological factor.
Physical Factor – this is possibly the more permanent type of erectile dysfunction as this doesn’t involves the mental state, but the process in which actual erection occurs. There are other reasons on the other hand, that when gotten rid-of, will most likely automatically revert to normal erection processes. This is particularly true when it comes to the use of medications that causes erectile dysfunction, smoking, excessive alcohol intake, use of prohibited drugs, and even obesity. However, for those with medical issues such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, prostate cancer, kidney issues, spinal injury, atherosclerosis, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease, the chance to get rid of the root cause of the disorder is somewhat a problem.
Thankfully, these days, regardless of what factor your ED is involved in, or what causes it, there are cures that men can rely on so they can have temporary use of their manhood for sexual activity. Such treatments involve oral medications like avanafil, which is said to be the most effective type of oral medication for treating erectile dysfunction these days. There are also injections and surgical implants, which in their own way are also effective. However, oral meds are still the best, especially if they work as not only are they convenient to use, but they are also less invasive.
